Election Day in the States and here we are on the Main River in Germany.
Arrived late in Wertheim due to traffic on the river. We were able to dock at the foot of the main street into the small town (20,000).

| Stumbling stones |
In many parts of the world, Jewish victims are remembered by the placement of "Stumble Stones" with their names, date of incident and other pertinent information. They are placed at strategic locations after permission from the local mayor and a ceremony marking the occasion. Very moving.

| Also rather moving are some of the local ladies....... |

There was an on board talk by Ursulla, a Wertheim native who spoke in depth about the Jewish situation before and after WWII. She talked about how the German population decided (consciously?) to hope the atrocities would fade from memory over time and disappear. She has taken on the responsibility of informing people what actually happened.
At 6:00, there was a post-trip briefing for those going to Bruges after the cruise. Also the normal discussion about the following days' program. This time was different as the Rhine river is too low for us to traverse. We will end up spending an extra night in Amsterdam and will not be able to cruise the Rhine among all the castles but rather will see them from a bus.
O, well! Life is a compromise.
More tomorrow from Heidelberg.
